Quantum Cryptography
The laws of quantistic mechanics allow for the secure transmission of cipher keys between two users, regardless of resources available at both ends. Such keys, if used in private key cipher systems, allow for a secure secret communication, even with the presence of "eavesdroppers". In the last decade, different protocols for quantistic cryptography, or better say for the quantistic distribution of cipher keys, have been developed. In this seminar, the basic notions behind these protocols will be illustrated to an audience with little or no knowledge of quantistic mechanics.
