Title: GNU/Linux-Embedded: general view and first steps
Speaker: Alessandro Rubini, Linux Systems European Expert
Abstract
A general view of embedded GNU/Linux solutions for industrial environments will be presented, together with the motivations for which many companies today choose to use and create free software.
To follow will be an introduction to the problems that are usually faced during operating system porting onto a new machine, with particular attention given to the role of the boot-loader and the necessary steps needed to personalize u-boot.
Title: Develpoment in an embedded environment: Drivers and Applications. Development techniques.
Speaker: Rodolfo Giometti, Embedded Gnu Linux Systems Expert
Abstract
Development on embedded systems using the GNU/Linux system requires a series of procedures that allow, on one hand for the core to run on particular hardware, and on the other for the applications to access system resources without having to worry about what is found "underneath".
This seminar will illustrate those procedures, and, in particular, will show the consequences of porting Linux onto a particular platform and what needs to be done in order to obtain a minimal distribution.
Title: Klinux: The Italian distribution of embedded Linux
