Printing of the NSS 2006 Convention and Call for Paper Proceedings has officially started. Copies will be ready by the end of September for distribution.

The convention will take place on November 27 - 2007, at Pisa's Palazzo dei Congressi.

On June 15th, the University of Pisa will award an honorary degree in computer science to Alan Kay for his merits in the invention of the personal computer as well as object oriented programming.

Alan Kay presented in Pisa, in June 1975, the concept and prototype of Dynabook. That exceptional event inspired generations of compouter scientists to follow that dream: a portable computer, wirelessly connected, simple to use even by children, with which to communicate, explore, experiment, share and learn.
In the afternoon, at 17.00, at the Polo Didattico Carmignani (Piazza dei Cavalieri) an encounter/conversation will take place with Alan Kay. The initiative is intended to be a public breathing space aimed at comprehending the role that new technologies can achieve as instruments to raise the level of literacy in countries of the third world.
Starting this year (2007), @System has renovated its internal structure; to succeed Raimondi Matteo as President is Quartulli Antonio. Furthermore, two subsections have been created: one dedicated to cultural activities, the other to the development of open-source projects.
Presenting a fresh style and new contents, the completely rennovated portal has finally been activated.
